IDB President visit from May 01-04, 2019 and signing of two TA Grant Agreements

The President IsDB H.E. Dr. Bandar M. H. Hajjar along with 38 Members delegation visited Pakistan from May 01 – 04, 2019. The purpose of the visit was to highlight the existing successful cooperation between IsDB & Government of Pakistan and to increase awareness about the new initiatives of the IsDB Group. During his visit the President IsDB called-on with President and Prime Minister, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and held meetings with high level officials of Government of Pakistan.

At that occasion, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue & Economic Affairs and President IsDB Dr. Bandar M. H. Hajjar signed two TA Grant Agreements:

i. Operationalization of EXIM Bank of Pakistan for an amount of US$ 277,200/- to assist with development of Islamic finance products, services, and their related manuals and training of EXIM Bank staff on the products development.

ii. Enhancement of Agricultural Production using Efficient Irrigation System in Baluchistan for an amount of US$ 280,000/- with the objective to improve farm productivity through piloting innovative resource efficient water and farm management techniques in Zhob and Nasirabad Division of Balochistan.

During the visit, the President IsDB and Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination jointly launched 8 Mobile Clinics donated by King Abdullah Foundation through IsDB for rural areas of Sindh & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. The 5th edition of the Transformers Road Show competition was also held by IsDB in association with COMSTECH. The Road-show is a global initiative in which applicants are invited to pitch ideas accelerating one or more of the UN SDGs. Out of 200 entrants from across Pakistan 4 finalists were selected by the judging panel, awarded US$ 30,000/- and a tickets to Transformers Road Show final to be held in Senegal during the current year 2019.
