AIIB Annual Meeting- Governors Business Roundtable (Virtual)

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, virtually attended the 7th Annual Meeting of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The Minister acknowledged AIIB’s support for Pakistan and congratulated AIIB on hosting the event.

The Minister for Economic Affairs mentioned the devastation caused by the recent floods in Pakistan. He further highlighted that Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable countries to the impacts of climate change, despite contributing less than 1 % to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. 

The Minister called for the increased support from the AIIB for reconstruction and rehabilitation works in the country. In order to build back better future, the Minister encouraged AIIB to build on its competitive advantage, and play a pivotal role in financing investment in the recovery and the further development of sustainable infrastructure as an asset class.
